Thunder Bay – The inaugural Thunder Bay Chill International Invitational Tournament is set to kick off with opening games and ceremonies at Tbaytel Field (Chapples Park) on July 30.
The event will feature five teams in the U13 male division competing in a round-robin format, with the tournament culminating in medal matches and closing ceremonies on Aug. 5.
Youth soccer teams from Manitoba, Southern Ontario, and Italy, are participating in the tournament.
The teams are :
- Thunder Bay Chill,
- Superior Rush FC,
- 1v1 Futbol Dreams SA,
- Toronto Azzurri,
- Venezia Nettuno Lido, Italy.
One of the major highlights of the tournament is the participation of Venezia Nettuno Lido, led by Paolo Poggi, a former professional player in Italy’s top league, Serie A.
In addition to the on-field action, the tournament is part of the “Let’s All Play” fundraising campaign. All proceeds will go toward the development of Thunder Bay’s new Indoor Turf Facility.
