Thunder Bay Country Club condo project on schedule despite apparent set back

There has been another setback at the new condominium and clubhouse project at the Thunder Bay Country Club. The parent company for their contractor, Dowland Construction, has gone into receivership.

There has been another setback at the new condominium and clubhouse project at the Thunder Bay Country Club.

The parent company for their contractor, Dowland Construction, has gone into receivership.  But Club officials say the situation has resulted in some more experienced personnel coming on board as the work continues.

The massive project at the corner of Golf Links and Oliver Roads, called The Club Residence, started behind schedule last year. Country club officials say because there never was a contract with Dowland Construction, the work at the site has been largely unaffected.

The country club has a contract with teh Club Residence Development Inc., which has replaced some key players after the loss of the construction firm.

Officials say work continues faster than ever at the site.

On Thursday, concrete was being poured for the foundation walls.  Club Pro Craig Morton says their members are looking forward to having a new facility.

Club officials say the building will progress at a rate of one floor every two weeks after the first floor is complete.

The six storey structure is set for completion at the end of March of next year.

The golf course is fully open for business, with a temporary clubhouse being used by the members.
