Thunder Bay district's COVID-19 caseload climbs to 38

Six of eight new cases are in Thunder Bay or surrounding townships.

THUNDER BAY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district has climbed for the seventh consecutive day.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported eight new cases Wednesday morning, bringing the active case count to 38.

This is the highest since June 12, 2021.

Six of the new cases involve residents of Thunder Bay or surrounding townships, one is in a First Nation community, and one is in another district community.

Five of the cases are the result of close contact with infected individuals.

Three previously diagnosed cases were resolved in the preceding 24 hours.

According to TBDHU, no district residents are currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 in hospital.
