THUNDER BAY — Thanksgiving weekend in the Thunder Bay area will very likely be wet.

Environment Canada says a period of at least six consecutive days of precipitation will begin Friday with rain or drizzle.

Snow is also possible by Friday night, followed by a forecast of showers or flurries every day from Saturday through Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimbell says rain will begin before dawn Friday, with 15 to 25 millimetres expected to fall before the temperature plummets from 14 C. to near 0 C. at night.

However, Kimbell believes any snow accumulations that follow will be more significant in areas outside the city.

"We will see snow in the Thunder Bay area. As we saw last week, last Thursday, probably more so in the higher terrain west and north of the city," he said, adding that "it may just be a few centimetres."
