THUNDER BAY — For the first time in more than six months, there are no COVID-19 positive patients in the Intensive Care Unit of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday.

On May 16, there were six patients in ICU who had tested positive for the virus, but since May 20 the number has fluctuated between one and two.

The last time TBRHSC's intensive care unit had no COVID-positive patients was on Nov. 29, 2021.

The hospital on Tuesday also reported it had 23 patients with COVID-19 admitted to beds outside the ICU.

That's eight fewer than the day before.

TBRHSC's current medical/surgical occupancy is about 105 per cent of normal capacity.
