THUNDER BAY — There's a new COVID-19 outbreak at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The hospital reported Monday that it's still assessing an outbreak on the 1A medical inpatient unit that was confirmed on Aug. 23.

Details were not disclosed, but TBRHSC said "we are...aligning our supports to enhance surveillance and testing activities."

It added that anyone considered to be at risk of being infected will be notified.

The outbreak was discovered three days after a COVID-19 outbreak in the 3A surgical unit was declared over.

The hospital also reported Monday that it currently has 32 patients admitted who are COVID-positive.

Three of these individuals are in the Intensive Care Unit.

One week ago, there were 25 patients admitted who had tested positive for the virus, of whom four were in the ICU.
