Thunder Bay Insurance and Gillons’ Insurance Brokers in Fort Frances have merged.
The merger makes the two companies now one of the largest independently-owned insurance brokerage in Northwestern Ontario. Officials from the two companies say the merger expands their reach across the region.
Together the company will have nine offices and will employ 100 people in city and across the north, including Fort Frances, Dryden, Atikokan, Rainy River, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout.
Thunder Bay Insurance’s David Baxter said the merger would provide increased expertise to service in commercial markets and positions the new company to handle major development projects such as the Ring of Fire.
Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Duane Cridland added that the merger would provide the region with better insurance options, coverage and lower rates.
He added that the merger will provide more employment opportunities.
