THUNDER BAY — The last full week of winter in the Thunder Bay region will seem considerably more like the beginning of spring.
Environment Canada forecasts a long stretch of mild, sunny days starting Tuesday.
"It will be much warmer than usual, but not record-breaking," meteorologist Peter Kimbell says.
The normal daily high for this time of year is about 1 C.
However, temperatures in Thunder Bay between Tuesday and at least Sunday are expected to top out between five and seven degrees higher than that.
Kimbell credits a high pressure ridge just south of the Great Lakes.
He said it's parked between the nasty weather that much of the U.S. received on the weekend, and a jet stream well to the north over Hudson Bay.
"The beginning of next week looks for the continuation of the same...warmer than average for the time being anyway," Kimbell said.
