THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay Public Library has announced it will close all four of its branches to the public due to concerns over COVID-19.

In a release Saturday, the library said it tentatively plans to reopen Monday, April 6 - the same day public schools are currently set to resume after two weeks of cancelled classes following March Break.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and determine if this date will be extended," says the release.

All programs, events, and room rentals, as well as home deliveries, are cancelled during the 22-day closure. The library's book drop will also be closed, with residents asked to hold on to materials until it reopens. No late fees will be charged.

In the release, the library encourages residents to take advantage of digital services including ebooks through their website.

The organization says staff will still report to work, ensuring continued access to digital services and performing other non-public duties.

Questions and concerns can be directed to the library at 807-684-6813 or comments@tbpl.ca.
