Thunder Bay man charged with attempted murder

A Thunder Bay man is facing charges after police respond to reports of someone being hit by a vehicle.

THUNDER BAY – A 63-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on Wedneday afternoon.

According to a Thunder Bay OPP release, officers were called to an incident Wednesday around 2:15 p.m. on Luakka Laine, Ware Township where someone was run over by a vehicle.

Police arrived and located an unresponsive man.

The man was transported to hospital and later flown to Winnipeg with serious injuries.

Police have arrested and charged Douglas Witol, 63, with attempt to commit murder.

The accused appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday.

The North West Region Crime Unit, Traffic Collision Investigators, Highway Safety Division and Forensic Identification Services are assisting the Thunder Bay Detachment in this investigation.
