WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Police Service has charged a Thunder Bay man and two residents of Manitoba with seven counts each of attempted murder.

Brad Wayne Baxter, 24, was taken into custody on Saturday by the Major Crimes Unit following an investigation into what police described as "multiple violent incidents of attempted murder" involving the use of firearms.

On July 18 at 2:45 a.m., Winnipeg police responded to an incident in a residential neighbourhood in which three people required hospital treatment for gunshot wounds. Less than 45 minutes later, they were called to another residence where a firearm had been discharged, but no one was hurt.

On July 21, police took Baxter as well as a 21-year-old Winnipeg man and a 36-year-old Winnipeg woman into custody on charges of attempted murder and numerous weapons-related charges.

All three were remanded in custody.
