THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police are continuing to investigate a collision that claimed the life of a Thunder Bay man.

OPP say 49-year-old George Decorte died at the scene Friday evening (Sept. 2, 2022) after a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) side-by-side rolled on the Decourcey Lake Road, off Highway 527 north of the city.

OPP say a passenger in the UTV also sustained extensive injuries, and was transported to hospital by Superior North EMS paramedics.

A police news release Tuesday stated investigators are determining whether speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.

OPP also reminded operators that helmets and seatbelts must be worn at all times when operating a side-by-side, and that vehicles must be licensed and insured.
