THUNDER BAY -- A 48-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged in connection with a child-pornography investigation.

Thunder Bay Police, in a release issued Friday, say the Cyber Crimes Unit made an arrest linked to an investigation involving the possession and making available of child pornography.

Police began an investigation on Wednesday after receiving tips that a local user had uploaded photos to social media that were consistent with child pornography.

As a result of the investigation, police were able to identify the local user of two social media accounts that were being used to post child pornography.

A search warrant was executed on Thursday at a residence in the 200 block of Empire Avenue.

As a result of the search, police seized a device that contained child pornography. Police also discovered images of a youth known to the accused.

Police seized electronic devices following their search of the Empire Avenue home.

Todd Andrew McNally, 48, was charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, importing and distributing child pornography, printing and publishing child pornography and voyeurism.

He appeared in court Friday morning and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

The investigation remains ongoing.
