Thunder Bay man pleads guilty to manslaughter

THUNDER BAY – A Thunder Bay man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to the death of 20-year-old Tyler Blouin last spring.

Thunder Bay police officers had responded to an incident in the area of Camelot and St. Paul streets just after 2:30 a.m. on May 4, 2024.

An injured Blouin was found and taken to the hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Brady Nugent, 23, was initially charged with second-degree murder, but on Aug. 6 pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter at the Thunder Bay Courthouse.

Police said at the time of the incident the victim and accused were known to each other and a firearm was not involved.

Nugent turned himself in to police.

His case will return to court in October. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
