THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Museum has closed its doors to the public.

Museum officials on Tuesday night announced the closure, which will begin on Wednesday and be re-evaluated on April 6, with guidance from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

The closure, which was prompted by the COVID-19 threat, includes all pre-arranged tours, after-hours rentals and special events.

Refunds will be offered to those who have booked and prepaid, although they would prefer to reschedule instead.

The closure has also led to the cancellation of the Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society annual general meeting, scheduled for March 24.

The 2020 Classic Car Raffle will continue as planned and the Taste of History Dinner has been rescheduled for Sept. 18.

Staff will be available by phone or email to help conduct research requests.
