Thunder Bay OPP reminding motorists to buckle up

Police conducted a seatbelt campaign over the Easter weekend where several provincial offence notices were issued for seatbelt violations.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police are reminding motorists to buckle up after a weekend campaign resulted in several seatbelt violations.

From April 2 to 5, OPP conducted a seatbelt campaign to enforce seatbelt compliance and highway safety, according to a news release issued on Tuesday.

As a result, 1,223 vehicles were checked in the Thunder Bay area including Shabaqua and Upsala.

In total, 24 provincial offence notices were issued for seatbelt violations and 30 provincial offence notices were issued for other various Highway Traffic Act violations.
