Thunder Bay paramedics offer flu immunization clinics

Appointments for shots must be made online in advance

THUNDER BAY — Superior North Emergency Medical Services is operating flu vaccination clinics at its headquarters on Junot Avenue.

Clinics will start this coming weekend, and bookings are now available online.

The announcement comes at a time when some pharmacies in Thunder Bay are currrently out of flu vaccine.

Superior North EMS said it will provide vaccinations to anyone over six months old, by appointment only.

Members of the public must register for a flushot at www.thunderbay.ca/ems. Telephone bookings are not accepted.

Appointments may be made for a maximum of two people at one time, and only if both are immediate members of the same family.

When creating the booking, the name of the second individual should be inserted in the "Reason for Appointment" section as a "plus=name of person".

Once the appointment booking has been submitted, clients will receive a confirmation email that includes specific instructions for the appointment.

The high dose flu vaccine – for people 65 years of age and older – will not be available at the Superior North EMS clinics.

Only the standard vaccine will be provided.
