THUNDER BAY - With the announcement of two new cases Sunday, Thunder Bay has passed an unfortunate milestone, with over 50 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region.
The two new cases involve a man in his 50s and a woman in her 80s. Both individuals caught the virus through close contact with a previously confirmed case, the health unit said, and are currently self-isolating.
Over 20 of the cases reported so far in the district have been attributed to close contact, such as exposure through a family member. Nine others have stemmed from exposure of workers at the Lac Des Iles mine, seven from international travel, while 14 are still pending investigation.
