THUNDER BAY — A 32-year-old suspect is facing several charges, including those related to drug trafficking and impaired driving, following a Thursday morning arrest, Thunder Bay police say.
In a media release issued Friday, police said officers responded to a call about an unresponsive person behind the wheel of a running vehicle on July 17, near the intersection of Francis and Ford Streets.
When police arrived, they allegedly found the vehicle’s engine still running with the driver still unconscious inside. The suspect was awakened by officers who observed signs of impairment, police said.
Following an arrest, police said that the suspect was taken into custody and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused appeared in court on July 18 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
