SUDBURY -- Thunder Bay's Matthew Bauman pocked $475,075 in Sudbury's Health Science's North's monthly 50/50 draw.

"I'm so surprised. Just wow," he said when contacted on Thursday by lottery officials.

"I've won smaller 50/50s or raffles at events, but I can't believe I get to take home a price like this," Baumann said in a release.

Anthony Keating, president and chief development officer of foundations and volunteer groups at Health Sciences North, said he's thrilled to hear what Baumann plans to do with the money, and what his organization will be able to do with its share.

"Our portion of the HSN 50/50 proceeds will support transforrmative care for the present and future needs of Sudburians and residents across Northeastern Ontario. An example of this is the acute reactivation care centre at HSN, a purpose-built facility to help older adults regain their independence and transition out of the hospital to be back home with their loved ones," Keating said in the release.

April's 50/50 draw is live at www.hsn5050.ca. The jackpot will be drawn on April 25 at 10 a.m.

Thunder Bay Health Sciences Foundation's March 50/50 grand prize closed out at $1.74 million, the fourth-highest total yet. The draw will take place on Friday at 11 a.m.
