THUNDER BAY — It's no April Fool's Day joke for riders of Thunder Bay Transit.

Bus fares across the board have gone up an average of 6.5 per cent for transit users and users of the Lift+ door-to-door paratransit service.

This means the cash fare has increased from $3.00 to $3.25.

The cost of a sheet of 10 tickets has gone from $25.50 to $28.00, and the price of a monthly pass has risen from $82 to $87.

Discounted monthly passes for youths and seniors now cost $60 instead of $57.

But there's a new single-rider day pass, good for an unlimited number of rides, for $9.00

All price changes are posted on the Thunder Bay Transit website.

The fare increases were approved by city council as part of the 2024 operating budget.
