THUNDER BAY -- A 23-year-old Thunder Bay woman is facing multiple child pornography charges after city police executed a search warrant on Thursday.

According to a media release issued Friday, the Thunder Bay Police Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in October 2018 after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre.

Police say a Thunder Bay woman was uploading child pornography images and videos to Tumblr,
a microblogging and social networking website.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed Thursday at a residence in the 1900 block of Frederica Street West.

Officers seized several devices and arrested the woman without incident. The images of the victim are of a female under 10 years of age that is known to the accused.

Ashley Dawn Raymer, 23, has been charged with making child pornography, making child pornography available, sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police added after a brief examination of one of the devices seized from the residence, an additional charge of possession of child pornography was also laid.

Due to the nature and severity of the investigation, being a female offender which is rarely seen, the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre attended Thunder Bay on Thursday and conducted an interview with the offender.

Raymer appeared in court Friday morning and was remanded into custody.
