Thunder Bay woman wins $1.73M 50/50 draw

The Thunder Bay 50/50 draw has awarded more than $69 million in prizes since it was launched in 2021.

THUNDER BAY – For the 22nd time, the Thunder Bay 50/50 draw has crowned a new millionaire.

Thunder Bay's Sharon Rabachuk got the call on Friday morning from Thunder Bay Health Sciences Foundation president and CEO Glenn Craig.

“Oh my God, you’re kidding,” Rabachuk said, after learning of her $1,733,255 windfall.

“I’m not kidding,” Craig said.

Rabachuk was stunned at her good fortune.

“I have never seen a number that large before. This is absolutely incredible. Thank you so much. I’m going to get my tickets right now," Rabachuk said. "Has anyone ever won twice?”

The July draw is already on sale, and features $100,000 in early bird prizes, including $60,000 in the opening week alone. The grand prize will be drawn for on Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. The deadline is July 24 at 11:59 p.m.
