THUNDER BAY — A winning Lotto 6/49 ticket has made a local woman a millionaire.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission on Firday announced that Thunder Bay's Ann Carlson had won $1 million in a Gold Ball Draw on Feb. 1.

"I always play numbers that are significant to me," Carlson said at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. "I was at home when I saw an email from OLG. I thought it was a scam, so I didn't pay much attention to it for weeks. When I logged into my account and noticed I really did win, I couldn't believe it!"

"I'm at a loss for words. I feel very humbled. This joy will be shared with family and friends. I've always wished I had the means to give people a helping hand and now I can do that."

The winning ticket was bought online.
