Thunder Bay's hospital is at 80 per cent capacity

The hospital has three district patients with COVID, as well as eight from other areas.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre currently has 11 admitted patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

It's one more than the hospital reported last Friday.

In an update issued Wednesday, TBRHSC said five of these patients are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, three residents of the district are hospitalized with COVID-19, none of whom are in the ICU.

TBRHSC also treats patients from outside the District of Thunder Bay.

SIx people with the virus were recently transferred to the hospital from Manitoba, which is experiencing the highest per capita rate of COVID-19 cases in Canada and the U.S.

TBRHSC's occupancy rate on Wednesday was 80 per cent, compared with 74 per cent last Friday.
