THUNDER BAY – Confederation College Thunderhawks golfer Matthew Cho-Chu returned home from the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association’s (CCAA) National Golf Championships finishing in the top 1/3 of the competition pool. Cho-Chu progressed up the leaderboard daily finishing in an impressive 19th position.
Hosted by St. Clair College in Windsor, ON, Oct. 11 – 15, 2021, golfers from Ontario, Quebec and Alberta were challenged with weather conditions including wind gusts up to 40 kilometres, above-average temperatures and torrential rains to intense competition. Due to inclement weather, the final round of the 2021 CCAA Golf National Championship presented by PING was suspended, reducing the event to 54 holes.
Accompanied by Coach, David Reid, Cho-Chu made history as the first Thunderhawk to compete at the National Championships in Confederation College golf history.
This opportunity comes after the Thunderhawks Golf team attended the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) Provincial Golf Championship hosted by Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, September 18 – 22, 2021.
