Thunderwolves hot start earns team first win of season

THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Thunderwolves are winless no more.

Sofia Lluch came up big for the visitors on Saturday night,scoring 19 to lead the Thunderwolves to a 68-57 win over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, claiming their first victory o fthe 2021-22ampaign.

A strong start propelled Lakehead to the win. The Wolves led the Golden Hawks 34-18 at the half.

Tiffany Reynolds and rookie Eva Guillera put up 13 points apiece, Guillera grabbing 10 rebounds to secure the double-double.

Lakehead (1-5) shot 43.8 per cent from the field.

Cassidy Hirtle led Laurier with 16.

Lakehead returns home next weekend for a pair against the Western Mustangs, coming off a six-point win over Waterloo.
