THUNDER BAY -- Odds are good someone in the Thunder Bay area is $500,000 richer on Saturday morning.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation officials issued a release stating that while no one took home the $60-million jackpot in Friday night's draw, one of six Maxmillions tickets worth half-a-million dollars was sold in the Thunder Bay area. Similar winning tickets were also sold in Sault Ste. Marie, Toronto, Brampton, Richmond and Toronto.
Eleven $1-million tickets were also sold in Ontario, including Markham, Owen Sound, Ottawa, three in Toronto, Mississauga, Sault Ste. Marie, Sarnia, Kitchener and Sudbury.
An Encore ticket worth $1 million was sold in the Newmarket area, while three $100,000 tickets were also issued in Ontario, one each in Toronto, Pembroke and London.
Next Friday's top prize will remain at $60 million, with a record 52 Maxmillions $1-million prizes up for grabs.
