LONGLAC, Ont. -- A pair of teenaged girls face mischief charges after a slew of tire-slashing incidents in Longlac.
Ontario Provincial Police in a release said they received a call on Sunday morning that a resident had awoken to find the tires on his vehicle had been slashed. A further investigation revealed there had been multiple tires slashed, mostly in the Benson Avenue and Kenogami Road area of the Northwestern Ontario community.
Police estimate the damage to be in the thousands of dollars.
On Wednesday police arrested a pair of 14-year-old girls, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
One suspect faces 19 counts of mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking given by an officer in charge. The other faces one count of mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking given by an officer in charge.
Police say they have identified a third suspect in the string of alleged property crimes, and charges are pending.
