A formal announcement is expected soon concerning plans for a massive solar park in Thunder Bay.
Sky Power, a Toronto based renewable energy company, plans to have the 8.5 megawatt green energy facility complete by mid 2011.
Sky Power representatives say the operation will provide enough solar power to supply 1,000 average size homes in its first year.
Company officials also say the project could be expanded to supply enough power for up to 15,000 homes after 20 years.
More information, including the proposed location, is expected to be announced next week.
