The North of Superior Tourism Association is looking for a new president.
Lori Paras, who held the position, officially stepped down to focus on her burgeoning restaurant business, NOSTA officials said Wednesday in a release marking the announcement.
According to executive director Don Pearl, because board elections were not held in December as scheduled, Paras, who had informed the board of her decision at that time, had agreed to remain in the position for an interim period.
The president’s responsibilities will be taken up by one of the vice-presidents, until elections can be held.
Paras’s resignation marks the culmination of several months of turmoil within the organization, in which the province told NOSTA that its funding would be merged with that of Sunset Country’s.
NOSTA’s annual general meeting in December was marred by infighting, to the point a security guard had to be posted at the door, and board elections being called off.
