Traffic stop leads to cocaine bust

A routine traffic stop Thursday led to the seizure of $15,000 worth of cocaine.

(MARATHON, ON)
– On October 20, 2016 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Marathon and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) commenced an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine.

At approximately 8:00pm, a pickup truck identified as being involved in the trafficking of cocaine was located parked on Michano Drive near the ‘dead end’. 

Investigation into this matter led to the arrest of the driver. 

A quantity of cocaine, with a value exceeding $15,000 was seized and the vehicle was towed.

A 24-year-old male resident of Marathon has been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

The accused was released from custody and is to appear in the Provincial Court of Justice in Marathon on December 14, 2016 to answer to the charge.
