THUNDER BAY – A southern Ontario man with Toronto gang connections is facing a multitude of weapons charges after police stopped his vehicle for having a snow-covered rear window.
In a release issued on Thursday, city police say an officer made a routine traffic stop at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon on Fort William Road and quickly discovered the driver did not have a licence and subsequently learned he was a suspended driver.
After later obtaining a search warrant, police searched the vehicle and discovered a loaded handgun with its serial numbers scratched off, along with loose ammunition and $8,500 in Canadian currency.
Multiple mobile phones and a digital scale were also found.
Anthony Omar Talbert, 25, of Scarborough, Ont., is facing a litany of charges related to the traffic stop.
