RED LAKE, Ont – A traffic stop last month resulted in impaired driving charges for one Red Lake man.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers initiated a traffic stop on Oct. 5 at 11 p.m. on a male travelling in Highway 105, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
While speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.
The officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample.
The driver failed and was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result, a 20-year-old man of Red Lake was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Dec. 16 to answer to the charges.
