Traffic stop leads to impaired charges

A Fort Frances resident is facing impaired charges following an incident late Friday night.

FORT FRANCES – A traffic complaint has led to the arrest of a 50-year-old Fort Frances resident last week.

According to Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police, officers received a traffic complaint on Dec. 11 around 10:15 p.m. on King’s Highway 11, east of Atikokan.

Officers located the motor vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.

After speaking with the driver, officer’s conducted further investigation and as a result a 50-year-old Fort Frances resident was arrested.

The driver was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus0.

The driver's licence was seized and the vehicle was towed.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on Jan. 12, 2022.
