Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges for 23-year-old driver

(MARATHON, ON) – On June 18, 2016 at approximately 1:00 a.m. officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment conducted a traffic stop at the mouth of the Pic River, Pic River First Nation, ON. 

After interacting with the driver, officers determined that he had consumed alcohol.  The driver was arrested and transported to Marathon detachment for further investigation.

As a result, the 23 year old male driver from f Pic River First Nation, ON has been charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

The male is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Marathon on August 24, 2016 to answer to the charge.
