Traffic stop turns into drug bust near Kenora

OPP officers in Kenora are reporting a significant marijuana bust following a traffic stop on Highway 17A. The seizure took place Tuesday after an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding.

The seizure took place Tuesday after an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. An estimated 18 pounds of marijuana was discovered in the vehicle worth about $167,000.

A 30-year-old BC man was arrested and now faces drug trafficking charges. Those charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a narcotic.

The suspect is expected to appear in court in Kenora Wednesday.
