Traffic stops leads to impaired driving charge

A failure to stop at a red light proved to be costly for a LaVallee Township resident.

FORT FRANCES – A LaVallee Township resident faces impaired driving charges after failing to stop at a red light.

According to an OPP release, police observed a driver fail to stop for a red light Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. in Fort Frances.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 1000 block of Kings Highway. The 54-year-old man failed the roadside test and was arrested and brought to the police station for breath tests.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court March 26 to answer to his charge.
