Five people have been injured in a head-on collision between two freight trains near Duluth.
The crash took place Thursday afternoon about 20 kilometres north of Two Harbors. One train had 116 cars loaded with iron-ore pellets, while the other train was pulling about 116 empty cars.
Three locomotives and 17 cars derailed as a result of the crash.
The injured train staff members were taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries. The investigation continues into why the trains were travelling on the same track.
