Tim Hudak’s call for more subways in Toronto is meant to make Premier Dalton McGuinty look like an idiot a local union leader says.
Hudak, Ontario’s Progressive Conservative leader, is calling for McGuinty to overrule Toronto city council’s light rail plan and side with mayor Rob Ford.
CAW Local 1075 president Dominic Pasqualino, who represents about 900 workers at Thunder Bay Bombardier Plant, said Hudak’s call to go against what most people want is just an attempt to make Mcguinty look foolish and better the Progressive Conservatives chances in the next election.
“I think McGuinty is smart enough to do what the councillors of Toronto recommend. I think it would be suicidal for him not to,” Pasqualino said.
Pasqualino said the idea, which will be voted on at Queen’s Park Tuesday afternoon, is not a concern for him.
“I don’t think there is any substance to it at all.”
