THUNDER BAY -- As the old saying goes, one man's junk is another man's treasure.

Those with so-called junk will get to test the theory on Saturday an Sunday with the return of the City of Thunder Bay's Treasure Exchange Days. The program is simple. Anyone with gently-used items they've no use for anymore can leave them at the curb anytime after 5 p.m. on Friday, clearly labeling them with a sign indicating it's free to take away.

Then, over the weekend, residents can tour city neighbourhoods and see what catches their eye.

"This is our fifth Treasure Exchange Days event," said solid waste and recycling services manager Jason Scherband in a release issued by the city. "This event continues to be popular among city residents and we're excited to bring it back again this year. Items to leave out may include furniture, small appliances, sporting goods, books, art, tools and toys. Residents are reminded to keep items that aren't giveaways, such as bikes, toys and tools, well away from the curb to avoid misunderstandings."
