Truck gets stuck on train tracks, local driver charged

A local truck driver didn't read the sign before crossing the train tracks. He became stuck which resulted in major traffic issues in Kenora.

(KENORA, ON)  Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged a tractor trailer unit (TTU) driver after the TTU he was driving became stuck on the railway crossing on Railway St in the City of Kenora. 

On Thursday, September 8, 2016 just before 8:30 am, police were notified of the TTU stuck on the crossing. 

Traffic was backed up and had to be re-routed until the truck could be removed shortly after 9:00 am. 

The crossing is regulated to vehicles with 3 axles or less.

A 40 year old Thunder Bay man has been charged with Disobey Sign contrary to section 182(2) of the Highway Traffic Act. 

He was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for the offence. 

Canadian Pacific Railway Police is also conducting an investigation into the incident.
