Twelve new COVID-19 cases reported

Active number of cases drops to 139, the fewest since Jan. 21.

THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has announced a dozen new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay area. 

Seven of the cases are considered close contact exposures, with two connected to the Thunder Bay District Jail and two more connected to the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre. One of the cases is deemed to have no known exposure. Eleven of the 12 cases are considered to reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding area, while the other case resides in a First Nation Community. 

The new cases bring the region's total to 1,013 since the pandemic began. There are 139 active cases, meaning 15 cases more cases are considered resolved. 

There have been 27 deaths attributed to COVID-19, but just one since Jan. 18.
