Two arrested after cocaine seized

A search of a south side apartment has led to trafficking charges for two individuals.

Police arrested a Thunder Bay man and a Toronto man following the search of a south-side apartment Wednesday evening.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 100-block of May Street North just before 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity in the area.

When police entered, two male suspects were located inside the apartment.

Both were arrested without further incident and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

A search of the suspects and a search of the home resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine, more than $5,000 CAD, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Tyshawn MORRIS, 23, of Toronto, is charged with:

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Harry Gordon SMITH, 61, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Both appeared in bail court on Thursday, June 16 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
