Two arrested after seizure of firearms cache

A dozen weapons were found, as well as bullets

FORT SEVERN FIRST NATION, Ont. --The Guns and Gangs Unit of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service has seized a cache of firearms and ammunition at a remote northern community.

Two men from the Fort Severn First Nation are facing numerous charges.

According to a news release, officers executed a search warrant in the community on Friday, and found 12 guns along with an unspecified quantity of shells.

The charges against the accused include unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, careless storage of a firearm, and careless storage of ammunition.

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Fort Severn is located approximately 850 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
