THUNDER BAY -- A pair of Greater Toronto residents have been charged with multiple drug offences in a suspected home takeover in Thunder Bay's East End.

Police say they seized a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine after responding to a residence in the 600 block of McLaughlin Street following reports of a possible home takeover at the address.

Police arrived at the scene on Monday night, just after 7:20 p.m., only to have the two accused flee the home on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit one of the suspects was arrested in the 700 block area of McTavish Street. The second was taken into custody shortly afterward, a short distance away from the residence in question.

The potential street value of the seized drugs is estimated at $75,000.

Both accused were taken to Thunder Bay Police headquarters for processing.

Troy Charley, 34, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of oxycodone and possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.

Shaquelle Haughton, 27, of Toronto  is charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of oxycodone and possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.

Both appeared in bail court on Tuesday and were remanded into custody to face future court dates.
