Two arrested, charged amid aggravated assault investigation

A serious weekend assault results in two arrests.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers have arrested and charged two males connected to an investigation involving a serious weekend assault. 

Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch learned of the assault on Saturday, Feb. 15, which had taken place at an Oliver Road residence in the evening hours of Friday, Feb. 14. 

An investigation revealed the victim was at the residence of the accused. At this residence the victim and another male became involved in a physical altercation. 

After this physical altercation concluded the victim was attacked by two males. 

The two male suspects attacked the victim with weapons. The victim was also bound and threatened by the two males, but he eventually escaped. 

Members of the service’s Major Crimes Unit also became involved in the investigation. As a result of that ongoing investigation, Thunder Bay Police Service officers identified the two accused males 

At about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, officers located one of the male suspects in the 400 block of Oliver Road. The male attempted to flee from officers but slipped on ice and was subsequently arrested without further incident. 

Officers located and arrested the second suspect in the morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 16. 

Patrick James HALL, 22, of Thunder Bay is charged with: 

• Aggravated Assault 
• Forcible Confinement 
• Assault with a Weapon x 5 
• Mischief Under $5,000 
• Uttering Threats 
• Failure to Comply with Judicial Release 
• Breach of Probation 
• Possession of Cocaine 
• Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon 
• Resist Peace Officer 

Scotlund CROMPTON, 20, of Thunder Bay, is charged with: 

• Aggravated Assault 
• Forcible Confinement 
• Uttering Threats 
• Mischief Under $5,000 
• Failure to Comply with Judicial Release 
• Assault with Weapon x 5 
• Breach of Probation 

Both appeared in bail court on Sunday, Feb. 16, and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
