Two arrested in early morning assault

A pair have been charged with assault following an early morning incident at a south side coffee shop.

Police arrested and charged a local man and youth following an investigation into reports of assault and mischief.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched just after 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, July 12 to the 400 block of Frederica Street West following reports of an assault that had just occurred.

Officers arrived to the [south side coffee shop] and located a female victim. Police learned the victim had been assaulted by three individuals who fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

While police were still with the victim, whose injuries were being treated by paramedics with the Superior North EMS, officers received reports of a broken window in the 200 block of Frederica Street West.

The suspects of that reported mischief matched the description of the suspects involved in the assault.

Police searched the area and eventually located and arrested two of the accused.

A 16-year-old Thunder Bay male is charged with Assault, and Mischief Under $5,000.

Thomas Allen BROWN, 20, of Thunder Bay is charged with Assault, Mischief Under $5,000 and Breach of Probation. He appeared in bail court on Sunday, July 12 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

The youth cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
