THUNDER BAY — City police have charged two people with drug trafficking after they were found unwanted in a south side home.

Thunder Bay police said officers with the community oriented response and engagement unit were sent to a residential address on the 200 block of Cumming Street on the morning of Nov. 18.

The officers were made aware that people were occupying the home while the resident was away.

When officers entered the home, they found multiple people inside. The ensuing investigation determined two of them had been involved in drug trafficking activity.

Police said officers seized quantities of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

A 20-year-old from Pickering is charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 38-year-old from Thunder Bay is charged with one count of drug possession for the purposes of trafficking and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.

Both appeared in bail court over the weekend and remain in custody with future court dates scheduled.
