EMO, Ont. – Two education workers in Emo, Ontario have tested positive for COVID-19, the Rainy River District School Board reported Sunday.
The board reported cases among staff members at Donald Young Elementary School and at the Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program in advisories posted to its website.
All close contacts of the cases are being called by the Northwestern Health Unit, the board said. Those not contacted are not considered to be at additional risk.
“Please note that a close contact is considered someone who has been within 2 metres of someone for longer than 15 minutes,” the board noted. “Individuals passing by in a hallway are not considered contacts and have very minimal risk of spreading infection.”
The board also said it had confirmed the case involving a Donald Young staff member “is not associated with the recent COVID-19 vaccination clinic held at the school.”
The board will minimize sharing any further information about the cases to protect individuals’ privacy, it said.
Those with questions can contact the Northwestern Health Unit at 1-866-468-2240.
